Alma Allen to Represent US at 2026 Venice Biennale

The US State Department has confirmed that sculptor Alma Allen will represent the United States at the 2026 Venice Biennale. The announcement, delayed by a government shutdown, was made on 24 November 2025. Allen's exhibition, titled Alma Allen: Call Me the Breeze, will run from 9 May to 22 November 2026 and is organized by Jenni Pardo and Jeffrey Uslip.
The exhibition will feature approximately 30 sculptures, including new site-specific works. Allen's sculptures are known for their use of materials like wood, marble, volcanic rock, and bronze, treated through various processes to evoke contrasting materials.
The State Department's announcement highlights the alignment of Allen's exhibition with the Trump administration's focus on showcasing American excellence. The exhibition will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States' founding.
Allen, based in Tepoztlán, Mexico, was previously represented by Kasmin gallery. His works have been featured in the Whitney Biennial and are part of collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Palm Springs Art Museum.
