Tiffany at Christie’s: Albert Zuckerman Collection Led by “Birches and Irises” Window

Christie’s has announced a special Tiffany sale dedicated to the works of Tiffany Studios and Louis Comfort Tiffany, to be held on 12 December at Rockefeller Center in New York. At the heart of the auction is a group of works from the long-standing collection of literary agent Albert Zuckerman, led by the “Birches and Irises” Landscape Window, estimated at $400,000–600,000.
Zuckerman’s collection has been assembled over decades and showcases key examples of Tiffany’s “painterly” approach to glass — works that can be read almost like oil paintings. Alongside “Birches and Irises”, the catalogue features a rare “Daffodil” chandelier (estimate $300,000–500,000) and a “Tulip” floor lamp (estimate $100,000–150,000), illustrating the studio’s characteristic blend of naturalism and decorative design.
At Christie’s, this auction is presented as a continuation of the market’s strong appetite for Tiffany glass. Earlier this year, the house sold the Goddard Memorial Window for $4.285 million, well above the high estimate. The upcoming sale, in addition to the Zuckerman collection, includes other signature models such as “Poppy” and “Bamboo”, a rare Landscape Floor Lamp (estimate $500,000–700,000), as well as metal and glass objects including the “Dragonfly and Arrowhead” humidor — together forming a tour de force of Tiffany’s mastery of light and form.
The works will be on view at Rockefeller Center from 5 to 11 December, with the live auction taking place on 12 December at 11:00 a.m. EST (lots 401–434). Bidding will be available in the room, by phone and via absentee bids placed through the individual lot pages on Christie’s website.
